Opening reception for Wit, Humor, Despair: Amos Lemon Burkhart

Through November 20, 2022

Join us for this special exhibition featuring works by visual artist and longtime Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD) professor Constance (Connie) M. Simon (1947-2021). Twenty of Connie’s 37 years as a Wilmington resident were spent teaching in DCAD’s Fine Art Department.  As a professor, Connie inspired and motivated not only students and faculty, but the entire DCAD community. While many know Connie as a generous, kind, and supportive professor, she was also a prolific artist.

With an impressive exhibition resume spanning 50 years, Connie’s work has been featured solo and group shows across the country. This retrospective of her drawings and paintings — many inspired by her travels — pays tribute to her commitment to her creative process. Her impact as a professor is in many ways immeasurable if it were not for the 1000+ DCAD alumni who benefited from the curricula she developed, and which still underpins the College’s Foundation Year curriculum. Her presence will continue to be felt at the DCAD for years to come. We invite you to join in this celebration of her life and artistry.

Please join us in supporting student scholarships at DCAD with a gift of any amount in memory of Constance M. Simon. You can make your gift by clicking here or by contacting the development office at 302-622-8000 x 207. Thank you for considering a gift in memory of Connie in support of DCAD student scholarships.
