As we see our nation slowly reopening, combined with the warmer weather and rejuvenation of the spring season, we find ourselves hopeful for a “return to normal” educational experience for our students.
I applaud our current students and faculty for their fortitude and perseverance in creating a meaningful experience in our online environment this past year. We had some wonderful takeaways and are assessing ways in which we may be able to have online offerings for our community in the future.
I want to assure our community that we plan to reopen our campus to in-person classes in the fall. Our staff is hard at work preparing for that, examining current State and CDC guidelines for optimal health and safety protocols while building out course sections, activities planning, and student move-in. We will continue to monitor those guidelines weekly and, should changes be needed, will use this space for updates.
At this time, we do not require vaccinations for a return to campus, but I want to strongly encourage members of the DCAD community to get the COVID vaccine. Masks will continue to be required on campus, and temperatures will be checked upon entrance to the building. We will also have strict quarantine protocols in place should someone become ill.
We look forward to seeing everyone in the fall at our small, smart, and spirited campus. Until then, please stay safe and healthy.
