Open Position:
Assistant Director of Student Life

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE 

The Assistant Director of Student Life assists the Director of Student Life in developing and overseeing all co-curricular aspects of student life at the college.  This is a 12-month, live-in position with benefits.  

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  1. Maintain a high level of student contact, visibility, and availability.  Provide advisement and referral to students with academic, career, and/ or personal concerns.  
  2. Assist the Director of Student Life in upholding and enforcing the Code of Student Conduct. 
  3. Serve as the College’s Deputy Conduct officer.   
  4. Serve on an emergency on-call duty rotation.  
  5. Organize and implement Resident Assistant & Orientation Weekend Leader training.  
  6. Provide ongoing leadership and assistance to the Resident Assistant staff.  
  7. Support and respond as necessary to Resident Assistant emergencies on nights and weekends.  
  8. Make housing assignments and assist with the move-in/move-out of students.  
  9. Manage housing accommodations requests, including gender-neutral and emotional support animal requests.    
  10. Manage housing and residence life concerns and complaints.    
  11. Manage and process routine paperwork, such as housing deposits, leases, and student records.  
  12. Assist in routine housing health, wellness, and safety inspections.  
  13. Manage the housing maintenance report system. 
  14. Oversee student operations in common areas, lounges, and the Student Center.  
  15. Help organize co-curricular student events and wellness activities.  
  16. Work with community partners to expand opportunities for students.   
  17. Assist the Director of Student Life with other office-related tasks.  
  18. Participate in and plan extracurricular activities such as Student Gallery Art Openings and Field Trips.   
  19. Participate in college-sponsored activities on nights and weekends as needed.   
  20. Must be willing to lift heavy objects, such as student room furniture , and/or setting up and breaking down events.  
  21. Other duties as assigned.    

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with experience working with college students, in student affairs, or higher education preferred.    
  2. Experience as a Resident Assistant preferred. 
  3. Patience, good listening skills, and the ability to keep information in confidence.  
  4. Creative problem-solving.  
  5. Willingness to be interrupted in the evenings and weekends in emergency situations.  
  6. Computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  
  7. Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.  
  8.  Experience with Student Conduct, Title IX, and the Jean Marie Clery Act.
