Director of Admissions

The Delaware College of Art and Design seeks a dynamic and motivated Director of Admissions. The Director manages the College’s enrollment process throughout the recruitment lifecycle. This position will be responsible for finding quality students, both domestically and internationally, and maintaining relationships with community organizations, secondary education institutions, and other stakeholders to attract a qualified and diverse applicant pool. The Director manages the Admissions team and sets recruitment goals for the year based on the Strategic Enrollment Plan and in consultation with the President.  

The Delaware College of Art and Design is the nation’s only private, two-year art and design institution located in the heart of Downtown Wilmington’s creative district. We offer Associate of Fine Arts degrees in Animation, Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Art, and Photography. The Delaware College of Art and Design is located at 600 North Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree 
  2. Leadership experience in higher education admissions.   
  3. Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Office. 
  4. Energy, drive, and a passion for art and design education. 
  5. Experience with CRM or LMS for prospect communications and database management. 
  6. WordPress experience for Admissions’ website updates. 

Desired Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated enrollment planning skills including data analysis to develop successful marketing strategies.
  2. Successful experience as a Director of Admissions in a post-secondary institution, preferably an art and design school.
  3. Experience in effectively leveraging financial aid.
  4. Demonstrated ability with enrollment information systems and web-based recruitment and admissions systems.
  5. An advanced degree in a pertinent field.

Admissions Counselor

The Delaware College of Art and Design is the nation’s only private, two-year art and design institution located in the heart of Wilmington’s creative district. The Admissions Counselor will represent the institution at college fairs, high school classroom presentations, portfolio days, and other events. A successful candidate for this position will be a resourceful self-starter with a passion for helping aspiring artists and designers (and their parents) navigate the college admissions process. 

Benefits of this position include health insurance, 403(b) with DCAD contribution, generous paid leave, flexible hours, and the ability to work in a fun and creative environment. This is an entry-level position with a salary of $35K.

Required Qualifications

Those applying should possess knowledge of college admission guidelines, standards, and procedures and higher education recruitment in general. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to comfortably interact with high school students, parents, teachers, and colleagues, are required. Public speaking experience is a plus!

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle and an Associate’s degree in an art and design field (a Bachelor’s degree in art or design is preferred).

Open Position:
Assistant Director of Student Life

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE 

The Assistant Director of Student Life assists the Director of Student Life in developing and overseeing all co-curricular aspects of student life at the college.  This is a 12-month, live-in position with benefits.  

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  1. Maintain a high level of student contact, visibility, and availability.  Provide advisement and referral to students with academic, career, and/ or personal concerns.  
  2. Assist the Director of Student Life in upholding and enforcing the Code of Student Conduct. 
  3. Serve as the College’s Deputy Conduct officer.   
  4. Serve on an emergency on-call duty rotation.  
  5. Organize and implement Resident Assistant & Orientation Weekend Leader training.  
  6. Provide ongoing leadership and assistance to the Resident Assistant staff.  
  7. Support and respond as necessary to Resident Assistant emergencies on nights and weekends.  
  8. Make housing assignments and assist with the move-in/move-out of students.  
  9. Manage housing accommodations requests, including gender-neutral and emotional support animal requests.    
  10. Manage housing and residence life concerns and complaints.    
  11. Manage and process routine paperwork, such as housing deposits, leases, and student records.  
  12. Assist in routine housing health, wellness, and safety inspections.  
  13. Manage the housing maintenance report system. 
  14. Oversee student operations in common areas, lounges, and the Student Center.  
  15. Help organize co-curricular student events and wellness activities.  
  16. Work with community partners to expand opportunities for students.   
  17. Assist the Director of Student Life with other office-related tasks.  
  18. Participate in and plan extracurricular activities such as Student Gallery Art Openings and Field Trips.   
  19. Participate in college-sponsored activities on nights and weekends as needed.   
  20. Must be willing to lift heavy objects, such as student room furniture , and/or setting up and breaking down events.  
  21. Other duties as assigned.    

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with experience working with college students, in student affairs, or higher education preferred.    
  2. Experience as a Resident Assistant preferred. 
  3. Patience, good listening skills, and the ability to keep information in confidence.  
  4. Creative problem-solving.  
  5. Willingness to be interrupted in the evenings and weekends in emergency situations.  
  6. Computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  
  7. Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.  
  8.  Experience with Student Conduct, Title IX, and the Jean Marie Clery Act.
