Portfolio Prep Workshops
DCAD offers three inventive portfolio prep classes focused on simplifying the admissions process for art & design college applicants. DCAD faculty take you step-by-step through finalizing a dynamic studio art portfolio. Rework, improve, and expand the artwork you already have. Learn to apply basic art concepts to compositions to highlight the best of what you do! Limited scholarships are available. $20/class or $45 for all three.

Fan Art Flip – February 27th, 1 pm – 3 pm
Feeling a little timid about submitting your fan art to college admissions? Don’t be! Let’s make your fan artwork for you. Develop a new way of displaying your passion for cartoons and anime that fits into a college-level studio art portfolio. We’ll also focus on creating original artwork inspired by your favorite animated series, manga, or graphic novels.
Documenting Weird Work – March 6th, 1 pm – 3 pm
Did you create some whacky things in high school art classes? A giant plaster spider? Crafty props for your theatre department? An assemblage of recycled found objects? Learn to document your work and highlight your varied artistic skills for your admissions portfolio. A smartphone camera and a free app are required to complete some helpful exercises.
Sketchbook Gold – March 13th, 1 pm – 3 pm
Do you have a sketchbook or two filled with half-finished drawings? No problem! We’ll help you finalize those ideas into portfolio-ready artwork that will wow any college admissions team. We’ll also cover how to emphasize drawing from observation in your artwork to display your unique take on the world around you.
