Learn while earning!

The Delaware College of Art and Design is the only two-year college in the United States to offer a paid co-operative education program. Internships coordinated by DCAD Co-Op extend learning and earning outside the studio and the classroom. Internships aren’t guaranteed, and students must be in good academic standing to be considered. Interested students may contact the Co-Op Office any time after the first day of school to start the process.

DCAD offers two ways to learn while earning in a field of study:

Paid Internships: Full- or part-time opportunities during the summer or during the school year. School-year internships must complement a student’s coursework and not interfere with study. These serve students whose plans include holding a job while attending school.

Paid Co-Op: An extended period of internship, occurring for an entire academic calendar year after students complete their course and studio work for the AFA degree. The co-op student can earn money to pay down debt  or put toward future schooling while maintaining student status. These opportunities are typically full-time and can combine with summer internships to afford students longer exposure to work in their field. A student must complete the entire academic year of co-op to maintain enrollment status as a student.
