Family and Alumni Weekend 2014: February 7-9
You won't want to miss our offerings that weekend:
• Our popular Student Exhibition, with the top work from our graduating class
• Saturday Workshops led by your favorite teachers and alumnae. Register now!
- Drawing Workshop: Light and Form, led by Bradley LaMere WORKSHOP FULL
Caravaggio. Rembrandt. Titian. All were masters at using one of the most important elements in art and design: light. This workshop will explore the role that light and shadow plays in the creation of art. We will analyze a wide range of lighting scenarios, allowing students to develop a greater understanding of shape, value, form, and depth. Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to enroll. This class will also serve as an opportunity for students to develop a greater confidence with a variety of drawing techniques and materials.
- Basic Bookbinding Workshop: Create, led by Randle Reed WORKSHOP FULL
In this workshop, students will create, from start to finish, their own custom artist's journal. Using basic bookbinding techniques, including the Japanese stab binding and traditional multisignature methods, students will create two journals that are distinctive and personalized.
- Pinhole Photography Workshop, led by Randy Ciurlino and Leon Syfrit
Learn how to make photographs-without a camera! Led by DCAD faculty, contemporary artists (and non-artists) will enjoy creating a hand-made camera to capture and develop images that are deceptively simple, yet fascinatingly mysterious. Participants will be invited to show their work in the Spring 2013 Continuing Education Exhibition set to take place in April.
