January 29th 2010
Did you resolve to learn something new in 2010? Perhaps you would like to take better photos, learn to paint in oils or watercolors, or learn the fundamentals of web design. Continuing Education at the Delaware College of Art and Design is offering more than 70 courses and workshops for personal enrichment and professional growth. Spring semester begins the week of February 15.
Evening and weekend classes are offered in the areas of Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, and Photography. DCAD offers students certificate options in the areas of Art and Design, Digital Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography and Web Design. High school students can explore DCAD through the Young Artist Programs, which include on-going portfolio development courses, as well as a new workshop in interior design and the popular Customize Your Kicks sneaker workshop.
DCAD also is pleased to offer its fifth Drawing Marathon in the Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery. The event is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 13. Artists are invited to stay for an hour or all 12. The cost is $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
A highlight of the spring semester will be the Twelfth Annual Continuing Education Exhibition. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 9, from 5 – 9 PM. Students enrolled in the Continuing Education Program have the opportunity to showcase their work, ranging from photography to jewelry to paintings and beyond.
“We are dedicated to fostering a creative community through Continuing Education at DCAD,” said Jane Campbell, Director of Continuing Education. “Students value the knowledge and enthusiasm of our instructors, the small class size, and the convenience of evening and weekend classes. Students make a tremendous amount of progress in their area of study, whether they are creating a web site or a work of fine art.”
