UPDATED: DCAD to attempt Guinness World Recordâ„¢ in March

Saturday, March 6, 2010, the Delaware College of Art and Design will attempt to break a Guinness World Record™ using paint and people to become the record holder for “The Most People Contributing to the Same Painting Simultaneously.”

The event will be held during the college’s first-ever Family & Alumni Weekend which will include other activities such as workshops with DCAD faculty, brunch with DCAD President Stuart Baron and the closing reception of DCAD’s annual Student Show on Friday, March 5, 2010.

The current record for the “Most People Contributing to the Same Painting Simultaneously” was set on Sept. 20, 2008, by 152 people in Dusseldorf, Germany. For DCAD to break the record, participants will have to paint simultaneously for three minutes. All participants also are required to work on the same painting.

The record attempt will take place at the Renaissance Centre, located at 405 N. King St. Sponsoring the event are the Renaissance Centre LLC and the Commonwealth Group LTD, as well as Golden Artist Colors Inc.

Participants are asked to arrive at noon and bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware. After the attempt is complete, a celebration will be held with music by the band Coco Syn and refreshments.
