DCAD seeking nominations for first Distinguished Alumni Award by Nov. 1

The Delaware College of Art and Design will mark its 20th anniversary in 2017. To celebrate its two decades of successful alumni, the nation’s only two-year college of its kind will present its first Distinguished Alumni Award to an outstanding graduate who has made his or her mark in the world.
DCAD was founded in 1997 through a creative partnership between Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. It is the only two-year art and design college in the United States as well as Delaware’s first and only professional art and design school. The College offers the associate of fine arts degree in animation, fine arts, graphic design, illustration, interior design and photography and boasts a “2+2” transfer program that prepares students to transfer into colleges, universities and art schools to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree. It recently launched an innovative co-op program.
DCAD alumni have transferred to institutions such as Pratt, the Corcoran, Maryland Institute College of Art, University of the Arts, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, Moore College of Art and Design, Tyler School of Art and The Cooper Union. They have gone on to work for entities including, but not limited to, the New York Post, the New York Library for the Performing Arts, MTV Networks, Rogue Dragon/NY, Pier 59 Studios, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, the Animal Collective, The Center for Art in Wood, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Disney Interactive Media Group, Stag and Hare, Cline Davis Mann, Slate, Discover Card and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Anyone may submit a Distinguished Alumni Award nomination by completing the form found by visiting www.dcad.edu/alumniclicking the link under “Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations.” Self-nominations by accomplished alumni are welcome.
The inaugural recipient will be selected via a voting process among DCAD alumni, faculty and staff and announced later this fall. The 2017 DCAD Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to the winning alumna or alumnus at Family and Alumni Weekend on Jan. 21.
All nominations are due by Nov. 1.
