Put Your Creativity to Work with DCAD's Continuing Education Summer Semester!
June 3rd 2014
This summer, DCAD’s Continuing Education Program invites the community to get creative through a diverse selection of art and design courses and workshops. The 12-week summer semester begins Monday, June 9, with courses and workshops taking place throughout June, July and August.
New offerings this summer include: Children’s Nursery Rhyme Illustration, Self-Promotion for Graphic Designers, Window Treatment Workshop, and Cyanotype Photography. Other workshops include the popular How to ETSY workshop and Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
To accommodate busy summer schedules, several popular courses have been condensed and will meet twice a week, including: Figure Drawing & Sculpture, Web Design Fundamentals, Web Animation, Adobe Dreamweaver, Historic Interiors, Digital Design Communications for Interior Designers, Interior Design Business Principles, and Digital Photography.
A highlight of the summer semester is the one-week Pre-College Art Studio Program, designed to prepare high school students for college admission in the fields of art and design. Students spend half their day in drawing class and the other half in an elective of their choice. Electives include Animation, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Painting or Photography. Students have the option of living on-campus and will spend the week in intense college-level drawing and elective courses; the week concludes with an exhibition of student work in DCAD’s Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery. DCAD’s Pre-College Program takes place July 21-25, with a registration deadline of Sunday, June 15.
The DCAD Continuing Education Program offers small classes taught by an engaging faculty of working artists and design professionals. Classes are open to everyone in the areas of Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Photography and Young Artist programs for high school students.
