Kalpa Srivats has taught a variety of courses in Art History and Painting in art colleges in India and in the US. Before moving to the Northeast, she taught at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and some private colleges in Louisville, Kentucky. She also gives guest lectures on topics of Indian Art, Indian Classical Dance, Indian Literature, and Cross-Cultural Issues. Her interests include Traditional Indian Painting, South Asian Art History, Sanskrit and Tamil Literatures, and World Mythology. Dr. Srivats received an 'Award of Excellence' in Traditional Indian Painting from the Dept. of Fine Arts, Stella Maris College, India. Dr. Ganapati Sthapati, the Director of Mamallapuram School of Sculpture, a prestigious institution for Indian Traditional Arts located in Chennai, conferred the 'Certificate of Excellence in Indian Art & Aesthetics' on Dr. Srivats.
